Heather’s Story

Dave and Gaye Brobeck are champions for the Arms of Love children. In 1977, their precious eight-year-old daughter, Heather, was permanently brain damaged in a terrible accident. Heather passed away after living for 29 years in a semi-comatose state. In honor of Heather and her heart for service, the Brobecks chose to turn their heartache into a lasting legacy.

Heather’s House was born, and so too was a foundational element of Arms of Love, Nicaragua. Heather’s House is home to 12 of our girls. It is where they have found family, healing, hope, and are growing into amazing young women. The Brobecks have continued generosity of time, resource and heart through the years, and have blessed so many children. Truly, Heather’s memory lives on through all those lives.

“We believe that the girls’ home is a fitting tribute to Heather’s spirit of love and reaching out to others. Our family looks forward to many years of involvement in this wonderful ministry. The vision of Arms of Love is our vision as well, and we feel privileged to be a small part in what God is doing in the lives of needy children in Nicaragua.”

Others have generously honored loved ones through gifts and service to Arms of Love as well. If you are curious about ways that you can honor someone you love by blessing children in need, please let us know. We are greatly privileged to share in such beautiful legacies.
